I likely spent about 20 hours in the game, and I would reckon that only 4 or 5 of those were in substantive story missions. Outside of that, most the game consisted of me doing Far Cry stuff: picking off enemies, building out an arsenal, and generally exploring the beautiful nuclear-tinted wasteland of Hope County. If you find yourself a fan of the Far Cry formula and are looking for a cathartic experience to sink your teeth into, this will certainly scratch that i
Not only could the „average Jane“ fail to get the thing to register her summoning of fire, the developer on hand for the demo stood there awkwardly rather than assisting in any way. This lead to several glittery 4's being written in the air, only to have nothing but idle chatter fol
Ever since Far Cry moved on to its current version of the Dunia engine with Far Cry 2 , a new entry in the franchise has come out every few years. For better or worse, there hasn't been a Far Cry game that's taken longer than four years to release between each numbered entry, not including spin-offs like Blood Dragon or more recently New Dawn . The latest numbered entry Far Cry 5 was announced in 2017, and subsequently released next Spring in 2018. With the highest amount of development time between Ubisoft's Far Cry games being about four years, and the lowest time being two, Far Cry 6 would be a perfect sweet spot clocking in at about three or so years of theoretical development t
But sometimes, people go too far. And in the case of Ubisoft , they had some help. We're not prudes, so we're not talking about the parade of short-shorted dancers demonstrating Just Dance 4 . We know as much as anyone that attractive people having fun playing games is a great way to advertise a lifestyle. Host Aisha Tyler's claim that the girls were the attention of everyone present since we're „all a little bit gay“ was a bit of a surprise, but we didn't know what we were in for. Those not in attendance may not have heard the catcalls and cheers from some of the 'press' assembled at the sight of bare breasts in the Far Cry 3 segment, but in retrospect, it set the tone for what follo
However, there's a lot of buzz around one key word for each game: location. Insiders have seemingly indicated over the course of a few weeks that Far Cry 6 's location would be „interesting“ and Battlefield 6 will be modern. Yet there's little reason that Battlefield 6 can't be b
The game otherwise falls into other smaller issues along the way. Sound mixing and companion lines are uneven and drilling – I'd often mute all audio to avoid Granny telling me one more time that I shouldn't crack a Miss Daisy reference as she shuffled into my car. Later sequences of the game seem weirdly time-dependent, where the game will fast forward time in the day for no reason, so you are at the appropriate time. And bosses (few that they may be) tend to feel like bullet spon
That awkward interaction, unfortunately, looked like a live performance of Shakespeare at The Old Globe when compared to Reggie Fils-Aime's witty banter with Scott Moffitt. Since Nintendo's Press Conference was primarily focused on the Wii U, Moffitt was only given about five minutes to hype up the 3DS' upcoming slate. The obviously disappointed Moffitt wanted to make sure Fils-Aime knew he felt slighted. His retort? „Thanks a lot Reggie! A couple of minutes? Where's the love?“ Cue the gro
Both may be shooters, but Far Cry 6 map|https://Farcry6zone.com/ Cry is an action-adventure franchise too. Players are able to stop and take in their surrounding areas much better than a war-focused first-person shooter. It's not impossible, but for it to work out as well and especially among its competition, Battlefield 6 would really need to emphasize the influence of the war on surrounding areas, moreso than in the p
That's not to say that the Battlefield franchise hasn't had „interesting“ locations—France, Italy, the Gallipolli Peninsula, Norway, just to name a few and far more. However, even when accentuated with Battlefield 's trademark capabilities of destruction , these areas don't really come to life. They simply serve as a historical backdrop for a short story, a far cry from…well, Far Cry . Of course, there's two things that need to be addressed in this comparison: genre and environmental storytell
_ Far Cry 4 _ played with this idea a little bit, but the factions were specifically part of the plot. You only got to side with one faction or the other at the very end. A faction system that is affected by gameplay would be a welcome addition. You could take down an outpost, then decide which faction gets to control it. It would be a nice change of pace and would open many story possibilities since you’re constantly changing the flow of battle between these factions. To make things interesting, each faction could also have their own perk that solely belongs to them. Meaning you can't use that perk unless you are partnered with them at the time. This would make the choices a lot toug
