Todd Howard has promised that Bethesda's upcoming titles Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 will be running on technology that represents the company's biggest engine overhaul since the release of Oblivion back in 2006. This bold claim comes in the wake of Microsoft's massive buyout of ZeniMax Studios and all of its associated studios, including Bethesda. The buyout cost Microsoft $7.5 billion and results in the company owning the rights not only to Elder Scrolls and Starfield but to Doom , Fallout , and many other franchises as w
That made the potential Starfield screenshot leak this fall even more exciting, as it represented the first look at an otherwise mysterious project from one of the biggest game developers around. While their validity was called into question at the time, it now seems more likely that they were legitimate. That’s thanks to Bethesda managing director Ashley Cheng, who recently appeared in a montage from Develop:Brighton, where Todd Howard was accepting a Develop:Star Award. As spotted by Reddit user Rynderend , Cheng is seen wearing a Starfield shirt with a logo on the sleeve identical to the one shown on the character’s spacesuit in the leaked Starfield screenshot. The matching logos lend credence to the screenshot being real, as it would be quite the coincidence if Bethesda just happened to pick the same design for its Starfield merchand
A supposed leak of Starfield screenshots may have just been verified by the unlikeliest of sources: a t-shirt worn by a Bethesda developer. The screenshots in question leaked in September, offering a brief glimpse at a possible player character, a spaceship design, and the HUD of Starfield . Bethesda has neither confirmed nor denied the validity of the leak to d
In a surprising social media post, Bethesda revealed that it has donated a bundle to the Make-A-Wish Foundation's auction. The highest bidder for the company’s package will have the opportunity to make a character for Starfield . In addition, the auction winner will walk away with an Xbox Series X, recalling that Bethesda recently announced that it would be acquired by the console’s creators , and sixteen titles from the studio. Several of the games seem to come from some of Bethesda’s most popular franchises including The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein , and Doom . At the time of writing, the ongoing bidding for the Bethesda bundle is just north of $2,000. Interestingly, the auction’s website goes into slightly more detail about what the winner can expect than the studio's post. It states that the highest bidder can look forward to working with the team behind the game, naming Todd Howard specifically, and that the winner should expect to „ schedule time to create the character within 3 months of 2/28/202
“ Yeah, I think they're gonna have an event for this. Leading up to E3, I think this is one of the milestones for Microsoft. Once the deal closes they will talk about it Starfieldgalaxy.com wrote in a blog post a in a big way. I don't know if it'll be like a full direct style event, but they will make note of it and they will talk about it extensively and explain what it means to everybody and kind of talk about the immediate future for both companie
The futures of both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI may become clearer next month, as Microsoft is apparently planning some sort of press event following its acquisition of Bethesda . With Microsoft's purchase of Bethesda expected to be approved soon , the gaming giant is making plans to publicly reveal its intentions for the studio. While Bethesda has maintained that both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI are its top priorities for the immediate future, not much is known regarding their availability on other consoles moving forw
Microsoft can't really publicly comment on these matters in too much detail until the purchase is finalized. Since the transaction was announced, the only news available about Bethesda 's future on other consoles (particularly the PlayStation 4 and 5) has been that Microsoft will honor preexisting agreements for games like Deathloop and that service-based games The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 will continue to be suppor
However intriguing this auction prize may be, it still does not give fans much more concrete details about the game itself. There may be some news on the horizon, though. Jeff Grubb, noted industry insider, hinted on his podcast last week that Microsoft may currently be planning an event in which the company will discuss its intentions for Bethesda. There has been no official word about this from either company, howe
This statement seems contradictory, given the nature of gaming console hardware. Neither Sony nor Microsoft has made firm statements regarding when the public can expect them to release the next generation of consoles, though one report suggests the next PlayStation system is at least three years away . Given that the current generation of consoles are nearly five years old, it seems highly unlikely that Starfield might be compatible with both the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One while simultaneously taking advantage of all the features offered by the next generation of gaming conso
