It turns out that the two fellows are British assassins just coming off a job, and have been ordered to go to Bruges to hide out for a couple of weeks. While older Ken enjoys the beauty and history of the town, Ken is completely and utterly uninterested. While Ken seems to be as much a mentor as a partner to Ray, the younger half of this duo reminded me of a pesky five year old boy - kind of like Dennis the Menace after too much su
Jason also suffers from alopecia, a disease that causes his body to reject it's own hair which has caused him to be ostracized for many years both by others and within his own mind. Seemingly trapped in his town and nowhere life, we know that Jason did have a plan to escape at some point due to reference to his „moving fund“ which he has exhausted trying to meet the monthly bills at h
Jason also tries to take care of Gus (played by Harry Dean Stanton), who owns a local old-time movie theater. Gus lost his wife years ago but is starting to descend into Alzheimers. Jason does his best to befriend Gus, who he's known for five years by helping him to run the theater, which shows old classics. It's here that Jason meets Francis (played by Zooey Deschanel from Elf ) Bill Paxton in a minor and somewhat creepy r
I'm not a fan of the desperate attempts at bringing out celebrities like Taylor Lautner and Miley Cyrus for the sole reason of bringing their fanbases in for ratings rather than their accomplishments. There were quite a few shots of Lautner sitting near the front when he wasn't nominated for anything (like we saw with Rob Pattinson last year). He has a better seat than those who were nominated or even winners of other categor
If you missed our live-chat for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards this evening, don't fret, we have the winners and a brief recap of the ceremony for you. In short, The Hurt Locker took home the big categories, beating out Avatar and the predictable choices won for the four acting categor
It remains to be seen if this is something that will plague the Oscars for the next handful of years or is merely a blip on the radar. Looking ahead to 2015's award season (I know, bear with me…), there are offerings from filmmakers including Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, and David O. Russell among others that could prove to be more lucrative endeavors than the crop we just got. The Academy will spend the next 12 months figuring out how to retool their telecast, but the odds of a ratings boost are in their fa
So here's the thing: This movie has a ton of what I think is really good stuff as far as script, acting, humor and drama. So why the relatively low rating? As much as I enjoyed the individual moments in the movie, for me it just didn't gel as a whole. I really wish that the film festival games reviews|Https://Moviefestivalhub.com/ had picked a course and stayed on it. Personally, when a movie starts out funny and then suddenly changes course into tragedy I just feel like I'm being manipulated, and it's jarr
This might be playing it safe given Davis' win earlier this year, but there's no reason to think she won't have a shiny Golden Globe to set alongside (or behind) the Emmy after Sunday night. But Davis is the logical (maybe too logical) choice here; her performance on HTGAWM is always strong and manages to legitimize the series in ways it might struggle with if it didn't have
Writer/Director Stephen Berra does an admirable job of capturing the feeling of desolation that is Jason's life. The fact that he gives so much of himself and sacrifices for others, while they seemingly don't appreciate it and manage to do better than him (although not much better). I might say that Berra does too good a job of it, because after a while I almost started to feel it myself, a black hole with no way out that went on and on and on. Although it was about two hours long, it felt to me like the extended edition of Lord of the Rin
Directed by Martin McDonagh, In Bruges stars Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as Ray and Ken, two Irish hitmen sent to Belgium to carry out an assignment for their boss Harry, played by Ralph Fiennes. When a previous botched mission leads Harry to give Ken unexpected orders regarding Ray, the two find themselves at odds with each other and must decide how to proc
After a Mississippi Bluesman finds a young woman severely beaten and abandoned, he holds her captive in order to cure her nymphomania. Samuel L. Jackson stars as Lazarus Redd, the religious farmer and former blues guitarist Lazarus Redd, and Christina Ricci as the young sex addict named Rae Do
The other issue that some will raise is the bloated nature of the telecast. Beginning at 8:30 p.m. EST, Sean Penn didn't announce that Birdman had won Best Picture until 11:48 p.m. In between all the awards being handed out, viewers were expected to slog their way through comedy bits that arguably fell flat, musical performances, and several commercial breaks. In this day and age, fans can find out who wins in real time via social media and see any speeches they're interested in watching online shortly after the original telecast. The need to see the show live has decrea
