With little officially known about the next Battlefield game apart from its player count, perhaps DICE takes a more cartoony approach with this title. A bright new visual style could change things up even further, creating a greater level of distance between the old and new styles by making use of some more unique graphics. If there is a campaign, players could be introduced to a squad of lighthearted and funny characters like the ones seen in the Bad Company subseries — with a group of misfits fitting the concept of a less serious Battlefield game to a tee. The leak in question comes from Tom Henderson, who has proven to be a fairly reputable source in the past. According to Henderson, Battlefield 6 will not be called Battlefield 6 at all — instead, it will drop the format of numbered titles entirely. Rumors suggest Battlefield 6 could take players back to the modern-day setting , which has been notably absent since Battlefield 4 in 2013. The last two entries in the series, Battlefield 1 and V , have taken players back in time to both World War I and II respectively. After V failed to make a notable impression, it's likely EA is going to try and win back its audience by going back to the modern day setting. Both Battlefield 3 and 4 thrived in their modern day settings, offering high levels of destruction with collapsible skyscrapers and all-out warfare with helicopters, jets, tanks, and more. While Rush exists in other Battlefield entries, it hasn't really been close to the level of quality that was seen in Battlefield 3 ’s version of the mode. While Conquest is what made Battlefield what it is, maps were seemingly made with Conquest and similar modes in mind, instead of Battlefield 3 's even split between Rush and Conquest-focused locations. While Battlefield 6 having massive maps and high player counts is an exciting rumor, these locations need to be fun to play on for more than just Conquest players. In an investors call (via VentureBeat ), EA CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed that the new Battlefield will be revealed this spring and began to tease the potential for the title. It's unclear whether or not the game will come to Xbox One and PS4 but it is confirmed to release on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. According to Jorgensen, Battlefield 6 will " mark a return to all-out military warfare ." He continued by talking about the scale of the new shooter.
