The Battlefield franchise has evolved quite a bit since the last entry in a modern setting. Loot boxes, season passes, and changes to DLC structure have all brought major shifts in the video game industry– shifts that Battlefield 6 will inevitably have to navigate. While there are plenty of things fans want EA to include in Battlefield 6 , there also needs to be a feeling of refinement for the aspects of the franchise that haven't been working. Modern settings have been explored in-depth in the past by Battlefield , which should give EA a better sense of what its fans want in terms of cont

A modern setting is a good way for Battlefield to create some free marketing for a few reasons. Games set in modern times tend to stir up more controversy due to their portrayals of violence, which means more headlines and time on the news. That translates to more eyeballs and more sales, even if that was never the intention for those reporting on controversial aspects of the game. A modern setting is also bound to draw comparisons to Modern Warfare, which is another way to market the game without spending a penny on advertisements, as comparison videos are bound to flood YouTube whenever a trailer relea

That being said, this is just an interpretation of the next-gen prototypes shown in EA Play Live earlier this year. EA and DICE have confirmed that a new Battlefield game (presumably Battlefield 6 ) is headed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and currently has a 2021 release window planned. Occasionally rumors have come out about the next Battlefield game, some of which have been proven false , others have no evidence or backing. Overall, it'll be interesting to see what's truly in store for the once revered shooter franch

Despite the game’s loyal fan base, Battlefield 5 has not always been a smooth experience. For example, the game’s Firestorm Battle Royale mode was a broken mess . Moreover, the game’s live service format was questioned by many gamers – concerns that resurfaced when EA revealed the next title in the series would focus on the same model . Days before that reveal, EA confirmed fans shouldn’t expect a new Battlefield game until 20

Battlefield may have a hard time keeping up because of Call of Duty 's flexibility. Call of Duty: WW2 and Infinite Warfare are two different kinds of games, even though they're both under the Call of Duty series. [[https://Battlefield2042pedia.com/|battlefield 2042 loadouts|Https://Battlefield2042pedia.Com/]] can only change their style a little, and has to keep to realistic combat. Players like Battlefield for its detail and realism , meaning if EA goes away from that, there is a chance it could be just another total failure of a game. Nonetheless, going for possibly a more futuristic style of gameplay or something the FPS community hasn't seen before could be what Battlefield needs to stay popu

In terms of what was specifically shown, the gameplay from DICE is very ambiguous. It's clearly an early prototype of gameplay for the next Battlefield game, but the assets themselves don't appear to be any different from Battlefield 5 . It's very possible the prototype gameplay shown was a repurposing of assets from Battlefield 5 showcasing what next-gen processing is capable of. That being said, it shows about around a hundred of what appear to be rendered models (all potentially players) moving in a single space. There also was a scene showing a building collapsing, which was more than likely showcasing a new version of Battlefield 's Destruction physics. Lastly, there were a few close-ups of an indistinct soldier's face rendered in high detail, though it wasn't clear if this was next-gen graphics rendered in-eng

During EA Play's 2020 Live showcase, there was an interesting tidbit shared at the end of the show from chief studios officer Laura Miele. Towards the end of the showcase, EA showed off some very early next-gen development footage from EA's first-party development studios like BioWare, Criterion, and DICE. "Our studios are taking their crazy, ambitious ideas and making them real," stated Miele. "Every console generation DICE sets the bar for excellence in audio and visual presentation. We are creating epic battles at a scale and fidelity unlike anything you've experienced before." This is almost certainly in reference to Battlefield 6 , or whatever Battlefield title is currently in the works for 2

From a speculation standpoint, it's hard to truly read between the lines here. It's clear all of this prototype gameplay was shown at EA Play Live in service to getting fans excited by the potential technology that could go into the next Battlefield game, but there wasn't too much shown. Considering EA Play Live premiered in June, and a new Battlefield game is planned for 2021, this footage was likely captured very early on in the game's developm

That being said, modern combat spawned some of the greatest Battlefield games to date. Battlefield 4 , despite its troublesome launch issues, shaped up to be a great Battlefield game overtime thanks to content updates. Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 were some of the best shooters the franchise had to offer because there was a clear focus on what each game intended to do. Bad Company 2 has some of the most intelligent map design in the entire series, justifying the at-the-time revolutionary destruction physics. Battlefield 3 thrived in its variety, showcasing traditional Battlefield gameplay on huge maps like Caspian Border, but also adding more close-quarters combat in maps like Operation Mé
