-(Image: [[http://www.imageafter.com/image.php?image=b2metals047.jpg&dl=1|http://www.imageafter.com/image.php?image=b2metals047.jpg&dl=1]])The strike displayed just how big of a leap the sequel is over its predecessor. The Inverted Spire is an exciting mission from beginning to endshowing off the design philosophy that will hopefully permeate the entire gameThe maps were far more openallowing us to approach the battles in certain ways. At one pointwe had to cross a huge battlefield with Vex and Cabal battling in the craters. While there will be a lot of returning enemies, there will also be plenty of new ones. For example, the Cabal have War Beasts, doglike creatures that arent afraid to get in close and maul unsuspecting GuardiansEven the returning enemies have some neat new abilities. The Cabal Phalanx now has the ability to put down bigger shield for a small amount of timemeaning you’ll have to jump over and walk around if you want to get them.+Completing the campaign can last anywhere between 6-8 hoursand that time is mostly filled with well-written and varied missionsSuresome cookie-cutter missions are just there to pad out the lengthbut for the majority of missions, there’s more than enough context and agency to keep players goingOne mission you may be driving vehiclein another you’re escorting a valuable object and then you may be teleporting around areas to save a friend. There’s a lot more variety on display in Destiny 2’s missions.

-Now let’s talk about the changes to the PC version. Overall, not a lot has been added in terms of content. Like the original release, players will need to wait a little bit before jumping into the Leviathan Raid and Trials of the Nine, which is a little disappointing for those transferring over, but it makes sense in the overall timeline. It’s up to Bungie to bridge the gap between PC and console updates moving forwardthough. The mouse and keyboard controls are welcome addition to the formula as [[https://Www.destiny2focus.com/|Destiny 2 Armor Guide]] almost feels perfect for the twitch-based shooting. Grantedthis can be said about almost every first-person shooter, but Destiny feels even more attuned for keyboard and mouse controls than say Halo. Im still unsure why Q was assigned to grenade when G is wide openbut thankfully you’re able to completely remap your commands to better suit your style.+"Outside of the Prismatic Matrix, players may continue to earn Bright Engrams each time they level up, and they can still purchase these engrams if they want chance to get everything from the Season 3 catalogAdditionallywere increasing the number of items available from Tess each week with Bright Dustfrom 14 to 18 items.

-Dead Space 3’s compromises were a bit more subtle , but they still resulted in a not-so-minor departure for the series. Where the first two games were horror games first and shooters second, Dead Space 3 was the opposite. It traded careful resource management and situational weapons for resource crafting and all-purpose creations. Rather than a tense experience that required its players to think on the fly, players got an occasionally startling but overall leisurely romp through an undead ice planet. Once players acquired enough resources to craft a gun with both long and short range firing modes, any semblance of genuine scares and vulnerability went right out the airlock. Supposedly, Isaac isnt even alone for most of the game thanks to his partner, Carver, appearing out of the ether during every other cutscene. Just like with Fallout 4 and Destiny 2, Dead Space 3 represented a shift in genre for the sake of more mainstream appeal. The semblance of the game its fans loved was still therebut that’s all it wassemblance. The traits that made it unique, that attracted a fanbase in the first place, those were either severely watered down or cut out entirely in the name of attracting more casual players.+[JH]: Grimoire Cards as you knew them the past few years are gone. Who’s to say how were going to make that content more accessible outside of the game. Howeverwhat I can say is that it was a goal for us to take all that Grimoire content and get it into the game so that it was more accessible to players.

-Casual players are the single largest audience in gaming; there’s no getting around it. This is the audience that every major publisher wants to appeal to; the one group that every development studio hopes will latch onto their game. After allcapturing the attention of the casual or mainstream audience usually means massive success and wondrous profitSo it’s understandable that they, publishers especially, would have a vested interest in making their games more accessible and appealing to that audience. Making that appeal often means simplification. The simpler the game is, the more accessible it is, the more mainstream appeal it can have. While there’s nothing innately wrong with making one’s game more accessible to the wider gaming audience, doing so always comes at a cost. Just as a game cannot be both simple and complexneither can it simultaneously serve its niche and successfully appeal to the mainstream audience. Therefore compromises must be made, usually ones that rob the game of what made it special in the first place. +What is surprising is the antagonistGaulPresented in trailers as a hulking bruteGaul appeared to be a walking cliché. The end product is the complete opposite with Gaul having much more depth than anticipated. Gaul doesn’t get the amount of screen time he deserveswhich is disappointing considering hes the best part of the story.
-The action continues after short cutscene (yes, there are cutscenes in missions now). We’ve boarded the Cabal capital ship and need to take down the shields. The level ended in the shield generator room where we were introduced to Destiny 2’s main antagonist, Ghaul. Large and menacing, Bungie claims that he’s a more complex villain than, say, Oryx, but he didn’t come across that way in the demo. Hopefullywell see another side of him in the main game.+

-The campaign kicks off with a bangReturning home to The Last Cityyou and your Ghost discover that the city has come under siege by the Cabal Empire’s Red LegionLed by Dominus Gaul, the Legion successfully captures the Travelercutting off all Guardians connection to the LightWithout Light, you must become the rallying point for all surviving Guardians, re-unite the Vanguard and retake what Gaul has taken from you.+[MW]: Well, let’s look at the FallenIn our Age of Triumph Grimoire Cardswe’ve taken the time to advance their story and key into the current state of the factionThe Fallen have completely lose their house structure. The idea of the Kells and the different houses are gone nowand theyre just a broken peopleSome of them have gathered together in the EDZand others are roaming the solar system. We’re able to really progress their story following the events of the previous games and expansions. Then we have the contextualized dialogue system to hint back to what you’ve done to them in the past.

-Competitive multiplayer returns in the form of Cruciblewhich has gone through extensive tweaksGone are the 6v6 matchesreplaced with 4v4 matchesWhile this is a curious choice, the player count works rather well in-game. All multiplayer maps have been designed with this number in mind and it’s easy to find firefightsPlaying Crucible is also more rewarding with loot generously dropped and Crucible Reputation tokens after each match.+There are a total of eight maps (nine if you’re playing on PS4)and five game modesSupremacy, Clash, and Control are part of the Quickplay optionand new modes Countdown and Survival are part of CompetitiveUnfortunately, there is no option to select the game mode you want once you select Quickplay or Competitive. If you really want to play Controlyou have to hope that the game's matchmaking doesn't randomly throw you into Supremacy or Clash.

+Much of the gameplay changes lie under the hood. Primary, Special and Heavy weapon classifications have been replaced with Kinetic, Energy and Power weapon classifications. While many may lament the fact that Sniper Rifles, Fusion Rifles and Shotguns have been moved to the Power Weapon slot, the changes made to the classifications are ultimately smart. Players now have more viable weapons to choose from, making it easier to melt enemy shields with Energy Weapons, pound unshielded enemies with Kinectic Weaponry and better control crowds with Power Weapons. New gun types like the submachine gun and grenade launcher are thrown in to add more variety and are quite fun to use.

+[MW]: We’re just aware of it as you are. It’s harder for us to tell a story, but it has it’s momentsThere’s one part in the story where you’re told to speak and Ghost cuts you off. So, we have fun with that.
 +
+[JH]: There’s two key things going on with Ghaul. One is giving him a goal and objective that he desperately wants that we as players can relate to. What do you care about? It’s your light, your progress, your powers. You care about that which the Traveler has given you. Ghaul wants that, and it’s the thing that you’re both going to fight for. The second is, when you start digging into the story, you see that he has a drive and obsession with being worthy. He doesn’t want to just take it, he wants to earn it.

+Destiny is a game with strong lore that does a poor job of presenting it to players. Though Bungie vastly improved the game's story elements in The Taken King and Rise of Iron, it's with [[https://Www.destiny2focus.com/|Destiny 2 Patch notes]] 2 where the developer is looking to make it's biggest strides yet. Featuring a full-fledged campaign, Adventures that tell their own sidestory and new lore items, the story team in Bellevue, Washington have had their hands busy. We got to sit down the Matthew Ward and Jason Harris, members of the Story and Cinematics team to discuss Destiny 2's plot.
 +
+Destiny 2 has even managed to mess up its core gameplay. While the developers’ hearts were surely in the right place when they chose to streamline the gameplay in the name of accessibility and PvP balance, in practice most of their changes have done more harm than good. One can tell that PvP was the major focus, because the changes work quite well for it. No longer do players have to endure the frustration of shotgun metas and constantly getting mapped by sniper rifles. Reduced access to abilities and power/special weapons allows for slower engagements. They’ve opened the door for an improved Crucible experience. The problem is that these changes are downright awful for the rest of the game. As it stands, Destiny 2’s gameplay mechanics encourage the hoarding of abilities and ammo rather than their enjoyment.
