| Quite recently, Russian industry insider Anton Logvinov shared a brief statement on Twitter claiming that Battlefield 6 is not what fans want, although it plays well. Judging by his subsequent commentaries, the insider hasn’t played the game himself while the information was probably coming from third parties participating in closed testing. Shortly after that, another industry insider, Tom Henderson, claimed the contrary stating that Battlefield 6 will actually be what fans of the series want . Interestingly, the source of Henderson’s confidence is pretty much the same as Logvinov’s concerns. According to those participating in internal testing, the game is receiving significantly more positive feedback than the previous titles. This reception makes Henderson believe that DICE is handling Battlefield 6 in a way that should satisfy f | On the other hand, Battlefield has been in a bit of a slump with the lackluster release of Battlefield 5 . Call of Duty is at a peak of players and and success, but Black Ops Cold War will have to top the previous game if Activision wants to stay on top. | This return to a present day setting seems favorable to fans, and inevitable, as the indicative tweet from Henderson got an enthusiastic response from his followers. It sounds like the developers, EA DICE , are taking some cues from one of the favorites of the series, and surely setting it in modern times will give players some advanced weapons and vehicles to test out. Battlefield 6 however, must make up for Battlefield V and deliver not just substantially more content, but a higher level of polish, a faster rate of post-launch content, higher player counts, and some innovation to compete with Modern Warfare which has given Call of Duty their best game in years - one that also supports cross-play and offers its battle royale modes for f | While Modern Warfare has been wildly successful, Battlefield V hit a slump. The game was underwhelming and did not release enough content to keep players hooked, and its battle royale, Firestorm , definitely did not live up to expectations. It's safe to say that Battlefield V put the series into a bad place, and it'll be interesting to see if the next Battlefield game can revive the series. DICE and EA may be able to make a comeback, even with the hyped release of Black Ops Cold War later this y |

| Even though Call of Duty seems to get a plethora of rumors and leaks for its next release, Battlefield is definitely more tightly sealed when it comes to leaks and rumors. There's practically no information out there about the game, but that's got more to do with development not being as far long as 2020's Call of Duty title. Many theories state that Battlefield 6 would be returning to a modern setting , which makes a lot of sense. Battlefield 3/4 as well as the Bad Company games saw plenty of success simulating modern military combat. Thought the setting isn't exactly what's going to save the franchise, it's got more to do with development priority being mispla | In a game like Battlefield , Gunsmith almost makes more sense to include than in Modern Warfare . Weapon balance in Battlefield has been spotty at times, but the expanded weapon customization introduced in Battlefield 3 compensated for that in a big way. If anything, expanding the systems that were introduced in Battlefield 3 and 4 into a Gunsmith-like system could help differentiate teammates/opponents from each other. Since every player picks one of four soldier classes, there'd be a lot of overlap between players' choice of weapon and equipment. Classes were constraining to a specific gameplay style, like how engineers were almost strictly close-range fighters with S |

| For various reasons, Battlefield 5 didn't meet EA's sales expectations . While there are a number of factors that lead to that result, it's fair to say that fatigue for the World War setting has taken over. Battlefield 1 released towards the end of 2016, and Battlefield 5 two years after that in 2018. For the past few years, Battlefield fans have been caught in the two World Wars, and while they brought different maps, weapons, and vehicles, for the mainstream audience the setting itself simply isn't different enough. That presents a fundamental problem for EA and developer DICE. Battlefield 5 could introduce a mountain of brand-new maps, but the player base will still feel like they've played it bef | For the better part of the last decade, the Battlefield series was the popular place to go for large-scale online multiplayer in the FPS space, offering players the opportunity to shoot it out on large maps in 64-player matches. That number’s almost quaint nowadays in the age of battle royale shooters that can support up to 200 players per match , but if the latest from the rumor mill is to be believed, it’s going to be bumped up considerably for the upcoming Battlefield |

| | That last part might not appeal much to Battlefield fans, not after Battlefield 5 failed to introduce battle royale to the series with its Firestorm mode. Numerous issues, including a slow pace and a bad loot system, resulted in Firestorm being largely dismissed as one of the worst battle royale games out there. Of course, with battle royale being much more prominent now than when BF5 first dropped, there’s always hope that DICE has taken Firestorm’s failure to heart and is focusing more on improving Battlefield ’s battle royale experie |

| As far as FPS franchises go, it's hard to dispute Battlefield as one of the goliaths. While it lacks the same level of success as the Call of Duty franchise, Battlefield has consistently delivered big, bold matches for fans that want something just a little bit more complex than the typical run and gun gameplay. But if ever there was a time for Battlefield 6 to see the franchise's return to a modern setting, it's | An insider claims that the next **Battlefield ** game, published by EA , will be returning the series to a present day setting and no one is surprised. | Internal playtesting for Battlefield 6 is already underway, says Wilson, and that feedback on the game has been positive so far. With the game set to launch sometime late next year, the company plans to show off more about its next Battlefield game in the coming spring. According to EA, Battlefield 6 will be one of six new next-generation games, which also include a new Need for Speed game, that the company plans to launch during the 2022 fiscal year, which runs from April 2021 to March 2 | Battlefield is often a much more team-focused game, especially with its classes and specialists designed to fulfill a specific role in battle. Leveraging that with weapon customization adds some flexibility, but doesn't compromise the series' desire to make every player's role feel just as important as everyone else's. These classes encourage proper team composition and influences the way people play Battlefield , allowing them to clearly determine what their role is in the grand scheme of a Conquest or Rush match. But with a Gunsmith-like system, classes would feel less linear and give players options where previous games could not. Support members don't necessarily need to carry a big machine gun, or engineers don't need to be limited by close-range weap |
